Putting Away Groceries-Grocery Shopping

You had a great time shopping with your child, you get home, and now it’s time to put all of that yummy food away! This is the perfect time to keep having your child learn and be exposed to foods.

⭐️ Have them help by taking food out of the bags.

⭐️ Have them categorize foods that go in the refrigerator and foods that can be out. And then, you can go even further, and have them categorize fruits, veggies, meats, dairy etc!

⭐️ Continue with language stimulation by talking about all of the foods, as you are putting things away!

• “These bananas are yellow! How many bananas did we get?”

• “The chips would get soggy in the refrigerator, so these get put in the cupboard.”

• ”Broccoli goes in this drawer! It helps the broccoli stay green and crisp!”

Although it can feel like more work to incorporate having your kids help you with this task, it allows for learning, exposure and building independence!
